Starting From Scratch
Everyone and Everything Starts With One.
Oh isn’t this fun! Who knows where this will lead…. I don’t have any “numbers of significance” in the social media and online world… who am I even talking to!?! myself!? hehehe How self-indulgent, where’s my imposter syndrome? Why aren’t I feeling like a failure yet?! Maybe I’m having too much fun? Guess what? Everyone and everything starts with one. The first subscriber, the first follower, the first book buyer, even better…. the first book buyer who WASN’T somebody you knew! There are so many firsts when you start and each one is thrilling.
I’ve started from scratch in business twice before, so I have some idea of what to expect. When you focus on where you are now and your next step, you’ll find you’re enjoying the journey. Of course, it’s important to have a vision of your desired destination, but I’ll share a secret… in business, you never know for sure where you’ll end up, especially at the start.
Clarity comes from action.
There are plenty of benefits that come from action, including confidence, motivation, understanding, direction, opportunities, possibilities, etc. So if you’re unsure what to do, just do something and the right information will come to you…. as long as you’re listening. Yeah, you have to listen, so you need to balance that action with stillness, quiet time or time away from the every day to let your intuition or gut feeling rise.
If you’re also starting something from scratch, YES! GO YOU! We can be Scratchies together! Let me know if you are and we can support each other. That’s another important component of starting out, network or connections. Business, whether it’s artistic or corporate, even if you’re in denial you’re in business, it’s all about relationships. You can’t get far without relationships, whether that’s your clients, other businesses, suppliers, etc. you never know where a connection will lead to. If you want to play the long game, start connecting. I’ve had people refer or come back to me years later.
As cliche as it sounds, enjoy the journey and trust the process. It’s bloody hard to start anything from scratch, really hard, so kudos to you, and me! because there are millions of people in this world who stay in the safety of their dreams and never even attempt the first step to fulfilling them. And if you are one of those people wanting to take that first step to start something new, feel what you’re feeling and do it anyway. The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work, but then you have new skills and experience to walk through life with and you can try again, you’ll be starting from a stronger foundation. There’s no such thing as failure, only lessons if you’re willing to look for and learn from them.
A running theme throughout my posts appears to be a reminder that life is forever changing and impermanent. When you embrace this and let go of the need to control external factors, you find an ease and expansion to life. You’re less fearful of what others think or how you appear, who cares about embarrassment now? We’re all going to die, so live your life for now.
Reimagine your life and chase those dreams!
